My daughter Csenge's birth in 100 pictures - part 8
(birthing of the placenta, getting acquainted with the baby)

Our midwife let us use our own shoe strings instead of cord clamps, so we did. (BTW we waited with clamping until it stopped pulsating all the way up to her tummy and left quite a long stump.). Finally, I very reluctantly sat on the edge of the bed where I pushed out the placenta a little later, while Zoltan held Csenge on his lap in a big, fuzzy purple towel :o). Csenge began to nurse shortly after the placenta came out and we talked quietly with our helpers, who cleaned up all the mess and took care of the laundry.

We feel whether the cord is still pulsating

The cord is tied off with shoe strings (the brown color comes from the Betadine). I'm flinching, because my uterus contracts to expel the placenta.

How was it exactly with that nursing thing? I feel a little overwhelmed by the task...

As the cord is cut, Daddy can finally hold Csenge again.

About 25 minutes after the baby, I'm birthing the placenta.

The placenta - caution, very graphic!

Now, do I look like a "wrinkled" newborn?
